Character Development Sample

One of the things that I like best about professional wrestling, and Shootclub.com is the creative outlet that it brings. And as such, I love the art of character development, and storyline continuity. Thus, through the years I have spent many an hour working on my extensive gimmick list. And anyone who ever worked with me can testify to the fact that I was always trying to tie logical storyline sense into forwarding angles and the like. Now, for the first time, I would like to publicly post a brainstorm of an idea that I had one night. Hopefully it will shed light on just one, of many ways, someone who is seen as an undercard talent, could possibly be repackaged with credibility. Mind you, what you see below could do exactly that. But what is often overlooked is the fact that you need both the talent, the creative team, and the marketing machine, as well as wrestling politics, to support the idea, to get the maximum effect. Having said that, I hope you enjoy my creative process, on how I would have liked to repackage Shawn Stasiak, if indeed he were still employed by World Wrestling Entertainment. [This is loosely based on the voices that mass murderer David Berkowitz heard, that caused him to become know as the infamous 'Son of Sam.']

Shawn Stasiak was a second generation wrestler who, as a result of living in a parallel world of his own, who came to be known as 'Planet Stasiak.'

Part of the world included hearing voices in his head. This resulted in some deeming him to be mentally unstable. Others felt that he should be committed to a mental asylum.

However, the technically gifted wrestler of Shawn Stasiak knew differently.

For he felt that the noises in his head were of the telepathic sort. In other words, his father, the former WWE World Heavyweight champion (than the WWWF) Stan 'The Man' Stasiak, was offering his wisdom to his son.

Meanwhile, as 'Planet Stasiak' continued on his way within the WWE, a series of brutal behind the scenes events were unfolding. Wrestlers, referees and agents alike all claimed to have been ambushed. And the attacks were all eerily similar as the all were left unconscious on the ground, with the telltale letters S.O.S. scrawled on them.

When the time was right, the man who orchestrated these maulings stepped to the forefront. Now sporting an unshaven appearance, and looking as if he had not slept for days, Shawn Stasiak, became known as 'The Son of Stan' and all those who cross his path best call for 'S.O.S.'
